Success Stories

Mohammad Nabi son of Jan Mohammad is one of the beneficiaries who is getting training of submersible repairing in Seury district of Ahmad Shah Khel village. Submersible repairing training is a part of ANCC Resilience Building project funded by WFP.

ANCC staff interviewed him and he told his story as bellow:

My name is Mohammad Nabi and my father name is Jan Mohammad. I am living in Ahmad Shah Khel village of Seury district. Now, I am enrolled by ANCC in a 9 month vocational training of submersible repairing.

Before becoming a member of ANCC vocational training, I used to go to Pakistan to work in hotel or to work for people during the months of Dec to March, and return to home with fewer amounts of cash after a 4-month  of hard working.

This year too, just before my departure to Pakistan, I came to know that an organization named ANCC plans to start vocational trainings in our village. I knew that this is a great opportunity and I should not miss it.

I immediately called my village community leader and told him that I am interested in this program and want to get registered because my father is old now and my brothers are small and they are not able to work to earn money for living. The leader replied that the staffs of ANCC are going to come tomorrow and it is better that you meet with them and talk to them regarding your problems and registration. They will register you if you are eligible and meet their criteria.

When ANCC staffs arrived to our village, I met with them, told them my problems and told them that I left the school because I had to work and support my family, and because of domestic violence in Afghanistan. I have always worked as a labor and didn’t know any vocation. I want to learn a vocational training and this is a big opportunity. I request you to get me registered in your project because I believe that I can meet your criteria.

I told them I want to get registered for submersible repairing training.

Now I so happy that I am a member of submersible repairing training and that I will learn submersible repairing, and more advantage of the training for me is that I am paid for nine month in this training.

Since the beginning of this program, I have not missed a single day and I am very happy that I am being taught by an experienced and professional teacher in my favorite profession. I try to learn it properly and with love, and will use it in the ease of my life. By this vocational training, I will serve my country, and I will find a halal livelihood for my family.

I would like to express my gratitude to the UN-WFP International Food Program for this type of programs as we have benefited from their financial support and direct cooperation.

Mohammad Rahim, son of Abdul Ahad is one of the beneficiaries who is busy in check-dam construction in Seury district. Check-dam construction in Seury district is a part of ANCC Resilience Building project funded by WFP.

ANCC staff interviewed him and he told his story as bellow:

I am Mohammad Rahim and my father name is Abdul Ahad. I have a small land and I was working in farming and it was the main livelihood through which I could support my family. When there is no season for Agriculture, I used to go to Pakistan to work in coal mines or for other works in order to provide for my children, and after returning from Pakistan, I used to be busy in agricultural work. Moreover, with the coming of several years of continuous drought, there is no benefit in farming because the whole year, I have been working in farm, but still, contrary to expectations, I am not able to get the income according to my hard work, so I must go to Pakistan for work. Now I am old and weak. I may not be able to go to Pakistan or any other country for work, and I may not be as strong for Agriculture work as I used to be.

One day, I went to my neighbor's house to treat my child's illness of diarrhea and vomiting. My neighbor said that the staff of ANCC visited our village to select the eligible people for the work in check-dam construction so that these poor and needy people can help support their families and reduce poverty and become self-sufficient. So, I requested my neighbor that he should help include me in the mentioned program. He said that he will cooperate and introduced me to the ANCC staff.

One day the employees of the ANCC, including the neighbor, came to our house and talked to me about my life to find out if I could be eligible for their project or not. Finally, in the course of the conversation, I shared my life and career with them and I was recognized as eligible for the program.

When I was recognized as eligible for the program, I was very happy. ANCC was the one who created job opportunity in our district, and I was told that they would pay me a cash equivalent to (AFN 8500) every month so that I can provide for my family needs.

Now I am trying with all my heart to work hardly because this is the best opportunity for me to support my family. I have no one to support my family.

Many thanks to the World Food Organization, UN-WFP for creating such programs to provide a source of income to the poor people, and also to the ANCC organization, which has honestly selected the deserving ones and hired qualified teachers who make this program more effective.
