Community Development

Society came into being through constant evolution of commune into community, and will reach to the heights of perfection through nurturing community in a good way.

Community, being the basic unit of society and; is the main area of intervention for ANCC. Our slogan “change communities to change the world” directs us to the path of development, tells us from where to start and how to go forward for the greater good of people. ANCC has iron will for community development and has proved it through working in the most insecure parts of Afghanistan. Our commitment and hard work has resulted in our appreciation by all stakeholders especially communities. Impartiality, transparency and honesty in the work make ANCC stand tall among national organizations.

Since 1994 ANCC is serving Afghans in the field of community development through most famous community development programs such as National Solidarity Program (NSP), Quality Primary Education Program, District Teachers Training Program, STEP/Civic Education etc. 22 years experiences has changed ANCC into a knowledge and learning hub in the field of community development.

The long term strategy of ANCC is to focus on the communities’ development so that the synergic effect result in a prosperous society. These efforts cannot be done in isolation, that’s why ANCC request all stakeholders to help and support ANCC accomplish its mission.

In Nimroz province ANCC facilitated irrigation canal rehabilitation project and construction for the sustainable development of the province. In total, more than 250 irrigation canals were constructed and rehabilitated by communities themselves through food for work.

The intervention provided work and food to rural population moreover a sustainable boost to the agriculture sector in the province. The people are getting benefits from the rehabilitated agriculture sector even after the end of the intervention.

We had a lot of problems in the village before community development interventions of ANCC. ANCC brought us all together and made us unite for the betterment of the village. The villagers have sense of self help and the example is their huge contribution of 890,000 Afghanis for the construction of culverts when the fund assigned by NSP for the community infrastructure project was not possible to be completed without community member’s contribution.
