Sustainable Development Approach

    Principles of sustainability

ANCC has been trying to maintain a sense of ownership and self-help among communities. Moreover, maintaining sources, resources and linkages will help in sustainability. Acting upon a synergic plan to mobilize all above mentioned aspects will enable ANCC to ensure sustainability for the targeted communities.

    Community-based governance structure

ANCC pursue its practice of establishing governance structures composed of local people to lead, govern and execute the process of sustainability.

    Sense of ownership

The sense of ownership among people can be cultivated through following intervention.

  • ANCC will engaging people in problem identification, planning, execution, and monitoring

  • ANCC will encourage community contribution through financial or in-kind means

  • ANCC will establish community accountability, transparency and impact evaluation mechanism

  • ANCC will keep sharing related information with community

    Sources and resources for sustainability

ANCC will help communities find and utilize sources and resources to make interventions sustainable. These sources and resources are mostly internal to community to break dependency. Communities should do one or more things, based on the need of the situation, from the suggestions given below to find sources and resources for sustainability. The interventions may include; establishing saving boxes, establishing maintenance committees, initiating income generation activities, identifying, recording and managing available resources, establishing self-help groups, collecting zakat, usher and alms, and taking part in Asher (collective volunteer work).

    Linkages

ANCC has helped communities establish linkages with government, donors, private sector and civil society through NSP. The organization will pursue the practice to enable communities' voices are heard by all stakeholders.
